This training is designed to present psychologists and practitioners with a novel treatment approach for interventions with couples, families, and groups. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Training (ACT) has been shown to be effective in treating couples, families, and groups by promoting psychological flexibility and psychological safety, which reduces symptoms and increases committed actions within individual groups.

Participants will be able to describe the role of experiential avoidance in couples and groups and how to generate the acceptance and committed action process.

 Dr. Polk and Mr. Tenaglia will discuss and illustrate how ACT uses acceptance and present-moment awareness in addressing issues couples, families, and groups experience. They will also Identify the ACT core processes for change in psychological interventions for couples, families, and groups.
