On-Demand, Self-Paced Course
3CE’s

Through this activity, psychologists will be able to describe the process of defusion and how it is used with clients to reduce the impact of difficult, traumatic memories and experiences. Dr. Polk and Mr. Tengalia will also demonstrate how to engage clients in a nonjudgmental process that increases acceptance of distressing memories while lessening their effects in daily living. With this training/course, psychologists will be able to demonstrate with clients how they can continue to engage in committed actions for valued living with trauma memories and improve their quality of life.

Studies show that Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Training (ACT) effectively address clients with post-traumatic problems. Based on the research and Dr. Polk’s clinical experience with PTSD, this course will train psychologists in applying ACT with clients experiencing chronic and persistent trauma symptoms.
