This course is designed for psychologists and practitioners with an innovative approach for conducting therapeutic intake sessions using the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The ACT Matrix will be demonstrated as an experiential tool that increases therapeutic effectiveness and motivation for change.

Studies have shown that Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Training (ACT) effectively address difficulties with individuals and groups seeking behavioral change. Dr. Polk and Mr. Tenaglia will demonstrate how to conduct an effective intake with the Matrix while adding psychological flexibility, ACT's cornerstone process for change and growth.

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate how to use the intake process for acceptance and present moment awareness with clients.
  • Participants will be able to conduct an ACT Matrix intake consistent with promoting psychological flexibility from the first interview.
